11 Pakistanis detained in US return home safely

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has announced that 11 Pakistani nationals, who were on a plane taken into custody by US authorities, have safely returned home.

In a statement posted on X, he said Pakistan has successfully completed the repatriation of 11 Pakistanis and 20 Iranian citizens. He added that all passengers detained on the aircraft have now reached their homes safely and in good health.

Dar said the travel and departure arrangements were made with the cooperation of Singapore. He added that after travelling from Singapore to Bangkok, a special flight was arranged to bring the passengers to Islamabad.

He also said Iranian citizens were assisted in returning to their country through Pakistan.

The deputy prime minister thanked the government and foreign minister of Singapore for their support. He appreciated the trust shown by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Pakistan and also acknowledged the cooperation of the United States in the return process of the 31 Pakistani and Iranian nationals.

He further thanked the government of Thailand for facilitating transit arrangements in Bangkok.

Dar said Pakistan’s foreign ministry, interior ministry and diplomatic missions worked together to complete the operation. He added that the government gives top priority to the safety and protection of overseas Pakistanis.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a key telephone conversation with the Foreign Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, to discuss the rapidly evolving situation in the Middle East, ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States, and efforts aimed at ensuring regional peace and stability.
