New South Wales: The Police have verified a terrible shooting in Bondi Beach on Saturday. Sixteen individuals, including a young child, were killed in the assault.
The ages of the victims vary widely, as they range from as young as 10 years to as old as 87 years. The authorities are officially considering the incident as an act of terror.
The violence occurred on an occasion that was the beginning of Hanukkah. Police killed one of the attackers on the spot, aged 50 years.
They shot and critically wounded another gunman and took him to the hospital. Videotapes give a clearer picture of the terrible attack that happened recently.
One of the people who was fatally shot was Rabbi Eli Schlanger, who was British-born. His family confirmed his death to the reporters.
One of the eyewitnesses expressed his great sadness and said that he lost a friend he held in high regard. He just became a father of a child, he added.
The Bondi region is still a strong Jewish community centre in Sydney. A place where religious and cultural events occur very frequently.
Sydney has always been low in terror-related violence. This attack, therefore, poses some serious security concerns to the officials.
The police will still be investigating the motives of the attackers. The Prime Minister of the state requested unity after the shocking loss of human lives.
Law enforcers promised to strengthen the security of strategic places in society. The investigation will be continued to establish wider network connections.
