5G launch delayed in Pakistan as Apple yet to release required software update

The official launch of 5G services in Pakistan continues to face challenges.

Sources suggest that Apple has yet to issue the essential software update patch needed to activate 5G support on its devices, thereby hindering users from using 5G services on their current iPhones.

In contrast, Samsung has reportedly made advancements in this regard, and it is expected that the software update patch will be available within two to three weeks.

Telecom operators have heightened their communication with mobile manufacturers to address the issue swiftly, and discussions at the state level with Apple are also being contemplated.

The relevant division of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) remains in ongoing contact with stakeholders to ensure a smooth launch of 5G services.

Experts emphasise that until the software update patches are made available, existing mobile phones will be unable to access 5G services, which raises concerns about potential further delays in the actual launch of 5G in Pakistan.

PTA confirms 5G not available in Pakistan yet

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) have confirmed that 5G service is not yet available on iPhone and Samsung smartphones in Pakistan, reports suggest on Tuesday.

According to reports, Apple and Samsung have not yet added Pakistan to their “country whitelisting” for 5G.
