Major motorways closed due to severe fog

ISLAMABAD: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has closed major motorways today, due to dense fog.

The officials warned the motorists not to travel unnecessarily and to follow the safety guidelines strictly.

The motorway M-2 is closed between Thokar Niaz Baig and Chakri.

M-3 motorway will remain closed from Darkhana to Faizpur.
M-4 motorway will remain off-limits from Shershah to Pindi Bhattian.

The motorway M-5 is closed between Rohri and Shershah.

While the M-11 motorway is off the roads from Lahore Main Toll Plaza to Sambrial.

Advisory by the NHMP

The Motorway Police advised the citizens to travel between 10:00 am and 06:00 pm, as a result, they will remain safe from accidents.

It is in the driver’s favour to use fog lights at all times, avoid speeding, and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead.

Travellers are advised to contact the helpline 130 in case of any queries and information regarding motorway updates.

GT Road

Traffic has been directed towards the Grand Trunk (GT) road as an alternative for the travellers.

The Traffic Police has advised the commuters not to travel in bad weather and to wait until the fog clears.

The officials said that once the fog clears, the motorways will be opened once again for traffic.
