Miss Mexico, Fatima Bosch, has been crowned Miss Universe 2025. The 74th Miss Universe competition took place on November 20, 2025, at Impact Challenger Hall in Bangkok, Thailand. Bosch’s victory comes after weeks of controversy surrounding the pageant.
The event featured contestants from over 130 countries, competing under the theme “The Power of Love.” Bosch’s win was celebrated as she succeeded Victoria Kjær Theilvig, the previous titleholder from Denmark.
Controversy Before the Crown
Miss Mexico faced challenges leading up to her win. On November 4, a viral livestream showed pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisil scolding Bosch. He accused her of refusing to participate in a photo shoot. Bosch denied the claims but left the room, followed by several contestants in solidarity.
In a later interview, Bosch addressed the incident, stating, “Your director is not respectful. He called me dumb.” The Miss Universe Organization president, Raul Rocha Cantu, expressed support for Bosch and criticized Itsaragrisil’s behavior.
Judging Panel Changes
The competition also faced scrutiny over its judging process. Omar Harfouch, a judge on the selection committee, resigned days before the event. He alleged the formation of an unofficial jury to select finalists, raising concerns about transparency.
The Miss Universe Organization denied these claims, stating that all evaluations followed established protocols. Despite the controversy, the pageant appointed new judges, including Natalie Glebova, who had previously coached Miss Canada, Jaime VandenBerg.
A Memorable Victory
Despite the challenges, Bosch’s win highlights her resilience and grace under pressure. Her crowning moment was a testament to her determination and the support she received from fans worldwide.
Miss Mexico’s victory marks a significant moment in the pageant’s history, showcasing the strength and perseverance of its contestants.
