Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has unofficially won three seats in the ongoing Punjab by-polls, with results still coming in.
Polling was held in Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sargodha, Mianwali, and Muzaffargarh from 8am to 5pm.
- NA-129 Lahore: According to unofficial and unconfirmed results from all 334 polling stations, PML-N’s Hafiz Mian Muhammad Nauman secured victory with 63,441 votes. PTI-backed independent candidate Arslan Ahmed came second with 29,099 votes.
- NA-143 Sahiwal-III: Unofficial results show PML-N’s Muhammad Tufail winning with 136,223 votes, while independent candidate Zarar Akbar Chaudhry came second with 13,220 votes.
- PP-203: PML-N’s Muhammad Hanif won with 46,900 votes, according to unofficial results from all 185 polling stations. Independent candidate Falak Sher came second with 10,895 votes.
A spokesperson for Punjab Police said that more than 20,000 police officers and personnel have been deployed to perform election security duties.
IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar said that Punjab Police will ensure a peaceful and secure environment for voters so they can exercise their constitutional right to vote without fear or hesitation.
