ISLAMABAD: The Green Emission Tag service has been temporarily suspended at D-Chowk Islamabad due to security concerns.
According to sources, the Green Emission tag service has been temporarily suspended due to security concerns at D-Chowk amid the arrival of foreign teams for the tri-nation cricket series in Rawalpindi. The teams are staying at Serena, where heavy security has been deployed, and all roads leading to D-Chowk have been closed.
However, the green emission tag service is being conducted at F-7 and I-8 sectors of the federal capital. The service at D-Chowk will resume after November 30 after the end of the tri-nation series.
Islamabad’s Transport Authority has made the green emission tag mandatory for all vehicle in Islamabad for combating smog and pollution.
Multiple inspection points have been set up in Islamabad, where the citizens get their vehicles examined for emissions.
Under Islamabad’s new emission-testing rules, all cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles must pass a certified test at an approved lab at least once a year.
Vehicles that don’t meet the required standards will be denied fitness certificates and could face fines or even suspension of registration.
