The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced modern self-service kiosk machines at several locations, including its Blue Area office in Islamabad, to make identity card services quicker and more convenient for citizens.
According to NADRA, citizens can now use the automated kiosks to apply for the renewal of their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) or request a duplicate card if the original has been lost. The service allows users to submit applications without waiting in long queues or obtaining a token.
To use the kiosk, applicants must first select their preferred language, either Urdu or English, and enter their CNIC number. The system will then ask them to scan their fingerprints to verify their identity.
Users must enter their mobile number and provide an email address. If they already have a Pak Identity account, their registered email address will appear automatically.
Applicants can then choose the required service. The kiosks currently offer options for renewing an expired CNIC or a card that is due to expire within the next three to four months. Citizens can also apply for a replacement card if it has been lost and select the delivery address.
The kiosk’s built-in camera captures the applicant’s photograph, while a digital pen allows them to add their signature. After reviewing the information, users can scan the QR code displayed on the screen to pay the required fee through their mobile phone.
The kiosks are currently available at selected NADRA centres in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sargodha, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Quetta and Peshawar.
