Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Local Government Department has increased the Special Conveyance Allowance for disabled government employees from Rs6,000 to Rs10000, while also approving a 7% increase in net pensions for local body pensioners.
According to a notification issued by the Local Government Department, the revised Special Conveyance Allowance will apply to eligible disabled employees working under various local government institutions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The allowance has been increased by Rs4,000, taking the monthly amount from the previous Rs6,000 to Rs10,000.
The revised allowance will apply to officers and employees of the Local Council Board, Local Governance School, Capital Metropolitan Government Peshawar and Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs).
The department said the allowance will be paid according to the eligibility criteria and conditions prescribed by the Finance Department.
The decision was approved during a meeting of the Local Council Board following correspondence received from the Finance Department on July 14, 2026.
The increased allowance will be effective retrospectively from July 1, 2026.
7% pension increase approved
In another significant decision, the Local Government Department has approved a 7% increase in net pensions for pensioners associated with local government institutions across the province.
The increase will cover pensioners of the Local Council Board, Local Governance School, Capital Metropolitan Government Peshawar and all Tehsil Municipal Administrations.
However, the pension increase will be implemented subject to the terms, conditions and eligibility criteria specified by the Finance Department.
With both decisions, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has provided additional financial relief to eligible disabled employees and pensioners working under or receiving benefits from the local government sector.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz announced a new salary schedule for all workers under the “Suthra Punjab” programme.
Suthra Punjab is Punjab’s flagship sanitation and waste-management program for cleaner neighbourhoods, stronger public service, and province-wide cleanliness. It serves districts and tehsils through a large sanitation workforce, service fleet, complaint-response channel, and engineered disposal network.
