Islamabad is set to celebrate Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day on August 14, 2026, with a series of official ceremonies, public events, parades, cultural programmes and concerts planned across the capital.

Several events are scheduled at prominent locations including Parade Ground, Pakistan Monument, Lok Virsa and F-9 Park, giving residents multiple options to celebrate Independence Day.

Pakistan Independence Day celebrations in Islamabad will also feature a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) flypast and fireworks at midnight on August 14, 2026. The midnight celebrations are scheduled around Markaz-e-Haq Monument near the H-8 Expressway, with fireworks and the PAF flypast planned as part of the festivities. A daytime PAF flypast is also expected over Parade Ground and the Expressway on August 14. In addition, an event will be held at F-9 Park, while the City Parade will take place at the old Parade Ground at 5pm on Independence Day.


Independence Day Parade at Parade Ground

A major public celebration is being planned at Parade Ground, where a parade will be held for citizens on August 14. TheCapital Development Authority (CDA) will arrange the public event, with the parade scheduled to begin at 5pm.

The event will form part of the city’s wider Independence Day celebrations and is expected to attract residents from across Islamabad.

Flag march at Pakistan Monument

A flag march will also be held at Pakistan Monument as part of the August 14 celebrations.

The Pakistan Monument is expected to serve as one of the key locations for patriotic activities in the capital, with the flag march adding to the day’s national celebrations.

Lok Virsa to host ‘Milli Naghmon Ki Shaam’

Lok Virsa will host a special Independence Day programme titled “Milli Naghmon Ki Shaam – Jashn-e-Azadi” on August 14.

According to the event poster, the programme will be held at the Lok Virsa Open Air Theatre from 6pm to 8pm.

The event will feature an evening of national songs and patriotic performances, with entry free for the public.

The puppet show is being organised in connection with Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations and will present the story of Pakistan through puppetry and performance.
