Pakistan Railways has suspended the Jaffar Express service between Quetta and Peshawar for two days due to repair work on the main railway track.
According to railway officials, the service will remain suspended on August 14 (today) and 15, with the temporary halt necessary to carry out repair and maintenance work on the track.
Although railway authorities attributed the suspension to track repairs, but sources stated the service had been suspended due to security reasons.
The Quetta-Peshawar Jaffar Express will operate only up to Jacobabad, instead of continuing on to Quetta, during the two days suspension.
Separately, railway authorities said the Bolan Mail service between Quetta and Karachi, along with the Chaman Express from Quetta, has remained suspended for the past six months.
On the other hand, previously, it was reported that the Lahore Railway Station is facing a severe sanitation crisis.
Passengers arriving at the station face overflowing sewage, stagnant dirty water, and an unpleasant smell spreading across the area. Reportedly, the drainage is blocked, causing wastewater to accumulate along the railway tracks. Travelers carrying luggage are forced to face these unsanitary conditions before boarding their trains.
In addition to the sanitation issues, passengers continue to face delays in train departures. Many passengers have to wait for long hours in uncomfortable conditions, despite paying high fares.
