President Asif Ali Zardari has announced the Pakistan Civil Awards for people who have made notable contributions in different fields on Friday. A total of 355 people will receive the awards.
According to the announcement, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar has been approved for the Nishan-e-Imtiaz.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal will also receive the Nishan-e-Imtiaz in recognition of their services. Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani has also been announced for the award.
Which showbiz stars have been named?
Several well-known names from the entertainment industry are also on the list of award recipients.
Singer Tarannum Naz and actress Nisho Begum have been approved for the Sitara-e-Imtiaz. Actor Iftikhar Thakur will also receive the Sitara-e-Imtiaz.
Actress Ghazala Kafi has been announced for the Tamgha-e-Husn-e-Karkardagi.
The civil awards will be given to people who have made important contributions in different fields and served the country and its people. A total of 355 people from different areas of life will receive the awards.
Military awards ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr
Previously, President Asif Ali Zardari honoured members of the armed forces at a military awards ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
The awards were given to military officers and soldiers for their services to the country and their acts of bravery. Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Ali Shaukat Shaheed received the Sitara-e-Basalat for his service and sacrifice.
Air Marshal Kashif Qamar was awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) for his outstanding performance. Martyr Sepoy Sauban Majeed Baloch was also given the Sitara-e-Basalat for giving his life for the country.
Sepoy Israr Muhammad received the Sitara-e-Basalat for showing great courage and bravery. Air Marshal Amir Shehzad was also honoured with the Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) for his exceptional services.
The ceremony recognised the sacrifices and achievements of personnel from the Pakistan Army, Air Force and Navy.
