Istanbul’s Martyrs Bridge was illuminated in the green and white colours of the Pakistani flag to mark 79th Independence Day of Pakistan, highlighting the strong and longstanding ties between Turkiye and Pakistan.

The bridge was lit up as a gesture of solidarity with Pakistan and to join the Pakistani people in celebrating their Independence Day.

Meanwhile, Turkish authorities also participated in an Independence Day event held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Ankara, sharing in the celebrations with the Pakistani community.

Turkish officials described the relationship between the two countries as one based on exceptional brotherhood, strengthened by shared history, common values and a commitment to standing by each other during difficult times.

The recent Mecca Joint Defence Agreement between Turkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia has also added a new dimension to the relationship, with the three countries seeking greater cooperation on regional peace, security and stability.

On the occasion, Turkish authorities congratulated the people of Pakistan on their Independence Day and wished the country peace, prosperity and well-being.
