US President Donald Trump has congratulated Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkiye on signing the recent Mecca Joint Defence Agreement.

The US president described the deal as an important development for security cooperation in the region.

In a statement posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, Mr Trump said he was pleased to see the three countries sign the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement.

He congratulated the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkiye, describing the agreement as a “big, bold” and important first step.

Trump said the pact showed that countries in the Middle East were becoming more united and would be better positioned to protect their security and defence interests in the future.

The agreement is aimed at strengthening defence ties between Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkiye and expanding cooperation on shared security concerns.

One of its key provisions states that an armed attack against any one of the three countries would be considered an attack against all three.

The arrangement could therefore provide a framework for a coordinated response to a potential military threat.

The agreement is also expected to increase military coordination and communication between the three countries, while strengthening their collective approach to regional security.

Trump’s comments come as Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkiye seek closer defence and strategic cooperation amid wider security concerns across the Middle East.

His public endorsement of the agreement also signals Washington’s attention to the growing defence relationship between the three countries.
