Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, paid tribute to the martyred pilot officer Rashid Minhas (Nishan-e-Haider) on the 55th anniversary of his death.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan’s military leadership and armed forces embraced the true bravery of Rashid Minhas and the sacrifice he made for the sake of this country.
Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas was martyred on August 20, 1971, after demonstrating exceptional courage and commitment to duty during an incident involving an aircraft.
ISPR said that his actions reflected his determination to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty and national interests in the face of an extraordinary challenge.
It said that Rashid Minhas is a symbol of courage, loyalty, sacrifice and patriotism, saying his legacy continued to inspire both the armed forces and the wider public.
Pakistan’s armed forces and people also reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national interests, ISPR said.
Rashid Minhas was awarded Pakistan’s highest military gallantry award, the Nishan-e-Haider, for his actions.
The military leaders said that his legacy would continue to inspire future generations and that he would be remembered as an enduring symbol of bravery, sacrifice and devotion to duty.
