The federal cabinet has approved the Defence Forces Act 2026 and amendments to the National Command Authority Act 2010.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, a meeting of the federal cabinet was held in Islamabad today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The cabinet approved the draft Defence Forces Act 2026, which has been prepared as a continuation of the amendments introduced through the 27th Constitutional Amendment.
The proposed legislation aims to define the relevant administrative matters concerning the office of the Chief of Defence Forces and the Chief of Defence Forces Headquarters.
Following the cabinet’s approval, the draft Defence Forces Act 2026 will be presented before Parliament for approval during its ongoing session.
The federal cabinet also approved amendments to the National Command Authority Act 2010, which were deemed necessary following the 27th Constitutional Amendment.
The amended draft of the National Command Authority Act 2010 will also be presented before Parliament for approval.

During the federal cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has once again invited the opposition to hold talks to end the political deadlock in the country, while announcing important measures to provide major relief to the common man.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made it clear that despite difficult economic conditions, the government is working day and night to provide facilities to the people.
In the country’s current political and economic scenario, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s statement is of great importance.
Talking about economic challenges, the Prime Minister said that the situation in the global market is also directly affecting Pakistan, and at present, refineries and chemical plants in several countries of the region are shut down, causing disruptions in the global supply chain.
Despite this, the government is pursuing a policy of providing maximum relief to the common man.
In this regard, a welcome announcement has been made to reduce the price of diesel so that people associated with transport and agriculture can directly benefit.
The Prime Minister expressed hope that as a result of these efforts being taken in the right direction by the government, economic conditions will improve further in the coming days.
