Crackdown on call center involved in cybercrime activities

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has raided a call centre in Islamabad allegedly involved in cybercrime, online sexual exploitation and financial fraud, detaining 276 foreign nationals during the operation. The raid was carried out at a call centre in Sector I-10/3, where NCCIA officials reportedly seized electronic devices and other evidence linked to the alleged illegal activities.

According to media reports, investigators found evidence suggesting the use of the facility for online sexual exploitation, sexual chats, video-related activities and financial fraud. The foreign nationals detained during the operation reportedly belonged to several countries. Authorities are investigating their alleged roles and the wider network suspected of operating from the call centre. Officials said further investigation is underway to determine the full scope of the alleged cybercrime and online sexual exploitation operation.

The NCCIA raided a call centre named Aofu Groupe, located in Sector I-10/3, Islamabad, and seized electronic evidence allegedly linked to cybercrime. According to the NCCIA, evidence of illegal activities, including online sexual chats, video activities, and financial fraud, was discovered at the premises. Later, the building was declared a sub-jail.

During the operation, authorities found 276 foreign nationals from several countries, including 69 Vietnamese, 71 Indonesians, 47 Thais, 32 Chinese, 14 Myanmar nationals, and one citizen of Vanuatu. According to sources, 42 Chinese nationals were transferred to holding centres in G-13 and Rawalpindi, while authorities have decided to deport another 76 foreign nationals immediately.

NCCIA officials said the role of the foreign nationals present at the call centre, as well as the overall operation of the alleged cybercrime network, is currently under investigation. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act and relevant provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code.
