Police have said they have cracked the murder case of TikToker Ayesha Gulamna in Taxila, alleging that her father, brother and cousin killed her over what they called family honour.
Rawalpindi SSP Operations Tariq Mehboob said at a press conference that Ayesha Gulamna, also known as Ayesha Shamsu, was allegedly killed because her family objected to her TikTok videos and social media activities.
He said investigators used CCTV footage and other digital tools to trace those allegedly involved in the shooting. Ayesha was gunned down in Taxila on the evening of August 14.
Her sister and brother also sustained injuries in the attack, police said.
Police have arrested five suspects in connection with the case, including Ayesha’s father, who police identified as the alleged main suspect, as well as two alleged shooters.
Investigators said Ayesha’s family had earlier tried to stop her from using TikTok but failed to change her decision. Police believe the suspects later planned her killing after their efforts to restrict her social media activities proved unsuccessful.
SSP Tariq Mehboob said police would complete the investigation and submit a challan to the court against the suspects.
He said authorities would take the case to its legal conclusion and ensure action against everyone found responsible for the killing.
