Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held an important meeting with PML-N President and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif at Jati Umra, where the two leaders discussed the country’s political situation, including government formation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and the selection of a new prime minister. According to media reports, the meeting lasted around two hours and covered the overall political situation in the country, government affairs and the future political course of action.
The two leaders also reviewed the prevailing political situation in AJK and discussed various matters related to the formation of a new government. They also considered the names of potential candidates for the position of Azad Kashmir’s prime minister. PML-N’s top leadership has reached a decision on the name of the new prime minister of Azad Kashmir. However, the final name has not yet been officially announced.
The name of the new prime minister is expected to be announced soon, after which the process of government formation in Azad Kashmir is likely to become clearer. During the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif and Nawaz Sharif also discussed the future political strategy in Azad Kashmir. The PML-N leadership reviewed various aspects of political stability and the effective functioning of the government in the region. Following the meeting, attention remains focused on the official announcement of the new prime minister, which is expected to provide clarity on the next phase of government formation in Azad Kashmir.
It is worth mentioning here that in the last meeting, the AJK Parliamentary Party had authorised PML-N President Nawaz Sharif to make the final decision on the prime ministerial candidate. Earlier, the PML-N AJK leadership had sent a list of candidates for the reserved seats to Nawaz Sharif for approval. The list includes Maria Iqbal Tarana, Nasira Khan, Maryam Kashmiri, Nisara Abbasi, and Sehrish Qamar for the women’s reserved seats.
