In the wake of other leading technology companies entering and expanding in Pakistan, US Consul General Steatson Sanders has expressed his hope that in the future, US-based global technology giant Apple may set up an office in Pakistan.
During the event, Sanders pointed out the fast pace of technology adoption in Pakistan and noted that new opportunities are being created in Pakistan for international technology companies.
He wished that Apple would also have a formal presence in Pakistan as companies like Google have done recently.
With the spread of modern technology, the lives of people everywhere are being changed, and Pakistan is in the process of being engulfed by the wave of digital transformation, the consul general said.
He said the arrival of big multinational technology firms may prove to be very significant to boost the technology sector in Pakistan.
He proposed that an Apple office in the country might draw in foreign investment, encourage the growth of the local digital ecosystem and generate jobs.
In the backdrop of the increased interest in digital services, technology and innovation in Pakistan, Sanders’ remarks come as no surprise.
The growth of the number of smartphones, online platforms and other digital technologies has given rise to a bigger market for global technology companies.
He also stated that he was hopeful that Apple would have a presence in Pakistan in the future, and that it could potentially be a big development for Pakistan’s digital economy.
There’s no official statement from Apple about the opening of an office in Pakistan yet, but Sanders’s remarks point to the fact that there’s reason for optimism that the market could be a good fit for big international tech firms.
Apple’s presence could also boost the technology industry’s relationship with the rest of the global digital industry, and create additional investment, skills development and job opportunities for the technology industry in Pakistan.
