Crores of rupees in alleged corruption have surfaced at Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH). Now, according to the latest reports, the IT staff from Shaukat Khanum Hospital is also allegedly involved.
According to the reports, there was monthly corruption of Rs70 to 80 lakh in KTH, and this corruption has been going on for 6 years.
The report adds that more than 50 crore rupees have gone into the pockets of some people in the hospital administration.
It is also being said that the IT system and the physical records have revealed serious irregularities.
Alleged involvement of Shaukat Khanum Hospital IT staff
The report adds that the IT system provided by Shaukat Khanum Cancer Memorial Hospital to Khyber Teaching Hospital was also examined.
When the fact-finding committee asked Shaukat Khanum’s IT department for database logs showing the number of patients who visited KTH and the fees collected, the IT team refused to provide the details.
Later, it was found that the hospital director or some people at the Khyber Teaching Hospital told the IT team of Shaukat Khanum that you cannot provide these details to anyone.
Adding that, for this, you must seek permission from the hospital director of the Khyber Teaching Hospital.
However, the fact-finding committee was brought into action. The chairman of the pathology department emailed and found some differences between the IT records and the physical records, as per the report.
A letter was written and emailed about the enquiry. Then the fact-finding committee was formed, and they prepared a detailed enquiry report on 16 pages. Then it was provided to the Board of Governors.
In this report, it is mentioned that the IT records and the IT system of the Khyber Teaching Hospital were provided by Shaukat Khanum Cancer Memorial Hospital, and all the issues are there.
That is why they contacted the IT team of Shaukat Khanum again and again and asked for details from them, but they did not provide them.
Fact-finding committee
According to the reports, when this enquiry started, in June 2025, the monthly income of KTH’s institution-based practice was Rs47 lakhs, which reached Rs1.21 crore in July 2025.
It is also mentioned in the fact-finding committee that if there was no corruption, then how did this amount increase within 20 days?
Reportedly, the records were kept hidden, and when the database log was asked for by the experts, they refused to give it.
This report has been sent to the Board of Governors. They have been told that, since there have been serious financial irregularities in the KTH, they should file with the Anti-Corruption Establishment, the National Accountability Bureau, or a third-party audit for the investigation.
But even after a year, the Board of Governors and the hospital administrators have remained silent on this corruption.
The report says the main reason for suppressing the fact-finding committee’s report was to protect some hospital administration officials allegedly affiliated with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Insaf Doctors Forum.
It also alleges that Shaukat Khanum Cancer Memorial Hospital, which provided the IT system, was involved in the irregularities. And that the report was suppressed to avoid exposing or defaming those involved.
The hospital administration allegedly took no action on the report. It was not sent to the Anti-Corruption Establishment or the National Accountability Bureau for further investigation, and no third-party audit was conducted.
