A newborn baby has allegedly gone missing following a delivery at a private hospital in Karachi’s Nazimabad area, prompting the family to seek police intervention. According to details, the incident came to light after the hospital administration categorically denied that a baby had been born.
The affected family has lodged a formal complaint with the police and strongly protested at the hospital over the alleged incident. According to the family, the woman had been receiving regular prenatal check-ups, follow-up consultations, ultrasounds, and other medical tests at the same private hospital throughout her nine-month pregnancy.
Her expected delivery date was August 27. However, after the woman underwent a surgical procedure on the scheduled date, the doctor reportedly informed the family that no baby had been delivered. The family claims that they possess ultrasound reports, medical records, and other documents from throughout the pregnancy, which they say prove that the woman was carrying a baby, according to media reports.
The brother of the newborn’s father said that the family immediately approached the police and filed a complaint. Acting on the family’s complaint, police sought medical assistance from Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Further legal action will be taken in light of the report and findings of the Medical Legal Officer (MLO).
According to the SHO, police have begun reviewing CCTV footage from the private hospital to establish the facts surrounding the incident. The police said that if the investigation finds the hospital administration involved in the alleged disappearance of the newborn or any wrongdoing related to the case, strict legal action will be taken against those responsible.
