The possible launch of the seventh-generation Honda City in Pakistan have raised questions about the prices of existing and used City models.
Honda is expected to introduce a redesigned City in the Pakistani market. The new model would replace the generation launched locally in 2021.
The seventh-generation City first appeared in international markets in 2019. However, its arrival would represent a new generation for buyers in Pakistan.
What could the new Honda City offer?
The expected model could come with a 1.5 litre i-VTEC petrol engine. The engine produces around 119 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. Manual and CVT transmission options are also expected.
International versions offer several modern features. These include a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 360-degree camera.
Some versions also feature Honda Sensing safety technology. The ADAS package can include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance and collision warning.
Up to six airbags are also available, depending on the market and variant.
The exterior design takes inspiration from the Honda Insight, majorly the headlights and taillights.
When is the new variant of Honda City expected to launch in Pakistan?
Honda is expected to unveil the seventh-generation City during the Pakistan Auto Parts Show. The event is scheduled for September 18 to 20 at Expo Center Lahore.
However, Honda has not officially confirmed the new model’s price in Pakistan.
Currently, the City 1.2LS costs Rs4,737,000. The City Aspire 1.5LAS is priced at Rs6,069,000, while the Aspire S 1.5LAS costs Rs6,149,000.
This creates a price difference of Rs1.412 million between the base 1.2LS and Aspire S. The Aspire S also costs Rs80,000 more than the standard Aspire.
Could older Honda City prices drop?
A new generation launch can put pressure on prices of older models. Dealers may offer discounts or other deals to clear their remaining stock before the newer version becomes available.
Moreover, used car prices could also be affected. Buyers may prefer the newer model, which can reduce demand for previous-generation cars.
However, any price reduction is not guaranteed. It will depend on the new City’s official price, availability, demand and Honda’s strategy for its existing models.
Suzuki had unveiled its first all-electric Kei car
On the other hand, previously, Suzuki had officially unveiled its first fully electric kei car, the E Sky, in Japan.
The compact electric vehicle had been scheduled to go on sale in Japan during the autumn. It was also expected to arrive in the UK in 2027.
The Suzuki E Sky was expected to cost less than £20,000 when launched in the UK, placing it among the more affordable electric cars available in the market.
E Sky is set to compete with other small electric vehicles, including the Honda Super-N and Renault Twingo.
