The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has issued a notification on the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for September 2026 today.
According to the notification, the price of LPG has increased by Rs4.33 per kilogram. The new prices will come into effect from September 1.
Domestic cylinder price also increased
The increase in the per-kilogram price has also raised the price of an 11.8-kilogram domestic LPG cylinder by Rs51.17.
After the increase, the price of an 11.8-kilogram LPG cylinder has been set at Rs3,052. In August 2026, the price of the same cylinder was Rs3,000.
The new rates will remain applicable throughout September 2026. Consumers will now have to pay more for LPG.
The price increase will affect households as well as people who use LPG for cooking because of gas shortages or a lack of gas supply.
LPG prices
Recently, OGRA increased the LPG price on Friday. According to a notification issued by OGRA, the price of LPG had gone up by Rs13 per kilogram. The new official price was Rs254 per kg.
After the increase, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder had risen by Rs152. The new price of a household cylinder was Rs3,000.93.
Additionally, the price of a commercial LPG cylinder had increased by Rs585. The new price was Rs11,546.
Earlier this month, reports showed that LPG was being sold for Rs500 to Rs550 per kg in several cities of South Punjab.
Consumers face severe gas shortage
The shortage of Sui gas and low gas pressure in Lahore have made life difficult for residents. Many households are now forced to buy expensive LPG for cooking.
Recent reports say LPG is being sold in Lahore at prices much higher than the official rate.
Demand for LPG has increased in different parts of the city because of the gas shortage. However, shopkeepers are reportedly charging customers high prices instead of following the official rate.
The official LPG price for August is Rs254 per kilogram. However, reports say LPG is being sold for around Rs450 per kilogram in markets across Lahore.
Residents say Sui gas is not available in their homes. Low pressure has also made cooking difficult. They said buying LPG cylinders as an alternative has become too expensive for ordinary families.
