Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has expressed disappointment over the national team’s recent poor performance. Speaking to a private television channel, Naqvi said he was deeply saddened by the team’s disappointing showing and acknowledged the concerns surrounding its performance.
He said the measures taken in England were necessary and added that there were other issues besides the team’s performance that were currently being reviewed. Naqvi also said that this was not the time to discuss anything other than cricket. “I am not afraid of criticism. Criticism from those who have not accomplished anything themselves does not matter to me,” he said.
It is worth mentioning here that former cricketers have strongly criticised the recent decisions made by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following the national team’s disappointing performance on the England tour. Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi said the decision to include T20 players in the Test squad for the England series was surprising.
Former Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur also questioned the PCB’s frequent changes, saying the board needs greater stability in its decision-making. Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik said the accountability process should begin after the tour has concluded.
Former England captain Kevin Pietersen also expressed surprise at the changes within the Pakistan team. Reacting to the developments, Pietersen questioned whether all the changes, including sending players back home, had actually taken place.
