Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan ink MoUs For Enhancing Trade Ties

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan on Thursday signed a series of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to boost bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Zhaparov, along with his top delegation, including cabinet ministers, arrived in Pakistan on Wednesday at Nur Khan Air Base, Islamabad. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari received him.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Kyrgyz President held a one-on-one meeting at the PM House and discussed a host of issues.

During their meeting, both leaders discussed cooperation across various sectors and exchanged views on regional and global issues.

15 agreements and MoUs for cooperation in various sectors were signed between the Government officials of both countries.

PM emphasized that President Zhaparov’s visit would give “a new dimension” to collaboration in energy, trade, and societal contacts. Reassuring their determination to elevate bilateral relations to new heights.

President Sadyr Zhaparov expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the invitation and thanked the Government and people of Pakistan for the warm hospitality.

Zhaparov described Pakistan as an important partner of Kyrgyzstan in South Asia. He added that their detailed discussions focused on expanding cooperation and shaping future joint initiatives.

The President praised Pakistan’s efforts for economic stability and development, calling them a reflection of the Prime Minister’s vision.

President Zhaparov added that both countries remain committed to combating terrorism. And emphasized that holding a business forum would play a vital role in boosting trade relations.

It is the first high-level visit from a Kyrgyz official to Pakistan in 20 years. This long-awaited visit marks a significant moment in our enduring brotherhood.
