Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmad Khan has paid tribute to Pakistan’s martyrs and national heroes on Defence Day, saying the nation will always remember those who sacrificed their lives for the country.
Speaking to the media in Lahore, Malik Ahmad Khan said Pakistan had produced brave heroes such as Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, while national figures like MM Alam had brought pride and international recognition to the country through their achievements.
He said the achievements of Pakistan’s national heroes remained an important part of the country’s history.
The Punjab Assembly speaker said India had started the 1965 war with the aim of conquering Pakistan. However, he said, the Pakistan Armed Forces successfully repelled the Indian forces and defeated their offensive.
Malik Ahmad Khan said Pakistan had also fought terrorism for the past three decades, during which more than 125,000 people had lost their lives.
He said terrorism had affected every section of society, including students and innocent children.
The speaker said Pakistan had made huge sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. He added that Defence Day reminded the nation of the sacrifices made by those who gave their lives for the country.
