A coal-loaded freight train met with an accident at Kotri railway station in Sindh, leaving a railway employee dead and causing significant damage to the railway infrastructure.

According to railway officials, five bogies of the freight train derailed on the up-main track. The deceased railway employee had boarded the freight train while it was travelling from Kotri to Hyderabad.

The accident also damaged thousands of tonnes of coal being transported by the train, while several feet of railway track were uprooted. Following the incident, the up-main track was completely closed, disrupting train operations. Railway staff and heavy machinery have been dispatched to the site, and efforts are underway to clear the derailed bogies and restore the damaged track.
