Pakistani gamers who are looking forward to discovering the streets of Vice City in Grand Theft Auto VI will have to begin saving up as the countdown to one of the biggest video game releases of all time has begun.
At the moment, the date of GTA 6’s release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S is set for November 19, 2026.
This will require gamers who are still on PlayStation 4, Xbox One or previous-generation consoles to upgrade their hardware before they can play. A PC version is also yet to be announced.
The console price will probably be the highest cost for Pakistani gamers.
The price of a PS5 or Xbox Series X depends on the model, condition and local retailer, but it can easily be over Rs100,000, which is the bulk of the overall cost.
Next, there’s the game. The Standard Edition of GTA 6 is $79.99 overseas, and the Ultimate Edition is $99.99 overseas.
Using current exchange rates and prices at local retailers, Pakistani gamers might be able to find this game for approximately Rs22,000 to Rs30,000 rupees or even higher, depending on the edition, platform and seller.
Pre-orders are already available at retailers in Pakistan, some of which have already sold them at Rs22,400 to more than Rs36,000.
But the purchase of the console and game might not be the only costs. Players who choose to make digital purchases might think about PlayStation or Xbox account regions, digital wallets, payment cards and their methods of payment.
Purchasers of a physical copy may also be subject to increased prices due to import charges and scarcity.
An internet connection is also going to be useful to download updates, patches and any future online features.
If the game offers multiplayer support, there’s a possibility that players will require a matching subscription service as well, depending on how Rockstar and the console platforms assign online access.
Hence, if a Pakistani gamer is starting from scratch, they may have to spend somewhere between Rs130,000 to 200,000 or even more, as they will have to pay for the console, game and other expenses.
The game is still months away, but for those who are fans of GTA, the preparations have already begun in Pakistan.
