Former Pakistan Test team head coach Jason Gillespie has vehemently criticised Aaqib Javed, saying that he is the reason behind many issues of Pakistan cricket.
Gillespie commented that key figure Aaqib Javed, who has been a part of Pakistan cricket for a long time and is currently chairman of the selectors, continues to hold his position while he and former white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten have failed to serve two years with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The former Australian batsman raised doubts over the stability and decision-making in Pakistan cricket, alleging that Aaqib has been serving for about two years and maintained his belief that the team had improved its standards.
But Gillespie claimed that Pakistan’s performance in all three formats has slipped this time.
Gillespie’s comments come at a time when Pakistan cricket is plagued with uncertainty and criticism again.
The national team has been plagued by a lack of consistency, multiple coaching changes and management changes, and selection or direction issues.
Changes in coaches, captains and selectors have also brought questions about a lack of continuity.
In the past few years, Pakistan cricket has seen a lot of instability both at the PCB and the management level of the team.

Gillespie showed his disappointment at the state of Pakistan cricket and said it was ‘heartbreaking ‘.
He also threatened to take legal action against Aaqib Javed if the “negative comments and discussions” persisted.
Gillespie said that Pakistan cricket has fallen into a vicious cycle, and the issues are recurring despite numerous changes.
The ex-Pakistan Test coach also spoke about various concerns he had before being appointed to the national team.
He went on to state that Aaqib Javed was the main reason for the problems of Pakistani cricket, and added to the controversy swirling around the PCB and the Pakistan national team’s future.
