Web desk: Field Marshal Asim Munir has become the country’s first Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) for the next five years after President Asif Ali Zardari signed the summary.
An official notification has also been released in this regard.
Field Marshal Asim Munir has been officially notified as Pakistan’s first Chief of Defence Forces, with his tenure set until December 2030, after the President signed the summary.
President Asif Ali Zardari has also wished the Chief of Defence Forces a successful tenure.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had approved the summary for appointing Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, and forwarded it to the Presidency.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir will serve as both the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Forces.
The appointment is for a period of five years. He will be the country’s first Chief of Defence Forces.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also approved a two-year extension in the tenure of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu.
This extension will take effect after he completes his current five-year term in March 2026.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) announced on December 4, 2025, that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has approved the summary of the appointment of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as the country’s first Chief of Defence Forces.
The appointment summary had been sent to the President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, for formal approval.
Fake Notification
Previously, a fake notification regarding Field Marshal Asim Munir‘s assumption of office as the Chief of Defence Forces had been circulating on social media.
Authorities confirmed that the document is digitally forged and completely fabricated.
Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, while holding a press conference with Information Minister Atta Tarar, said that do not worry at all, the original notification is coming soon.
He said that the government works according to its framework, and there is no such big news today. He further added that all matters are as usual.
Azam Nazeer Tarar said that there is a clear framework to run the system, and the government moves forward under it.
