The Balochistan government has approved an upper-age relaxation of up to 43 years for candidates applying for government jobs. According to an official notification, the move aims to expand employment opportunities for the province’s youth by allowing greater flexibility in the upper age limit for recruitment to government posts.
Under the new notification, the maximum age limit for applying for government jobs has been set at 43 years for general candidates, persons with disabilities and legal heirs of martyrs. For government employees who have completed at least two years of continuous service, the upper age limit has been extended to 50 years.
According to a spokesperson for the Balochistan government, the relaxation will not apply to posts for which the maximum age limit has already been fixed below 43 years. No additional age relaxation will be granted beyond the limits specified in the notification. The general age relaxation will remain in effect for three years from the date of issuance of the notification.
It is worth mentioning here that the Balochistan Education Department had earlier imposed a complete ban on corporal punishment in all public and private schools across the province, issuing an official notification to enforce the directive.
Under the new policy, teachers are prohibited from slapping students or using sticks or any other objects to inflict physical punishment. The notification also outlaws humiliating, threatening, or mentally abusing students, declaring such behaviour punishable misconduct.
Schools have been instructed to maintain discipline through positive, non-violent, and student-friendly methods, while teachers have been directed to treat students with respect and adopt constructive approaches in the classroom. The department said all complaints related to corporal punishment will be investigated promptly, with inquiry reports submitted to the relevant district education officers.
