Pakistan cricketers Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq appeared before the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in Lahore on Thursday as part of an ongoing inquiry. Both players, who were released from the national squad after the Lord’s Test, have sought additional time to respond to questions during the investigation, according to sources.
The appearance comes amid an inquiry into reports concerning alleged leaks from the team’s dressing room and other matters surrounding the national cricket team. According to media reports, former Pakistan captain and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan appeared before the NCCIA in Lahore at 3 pm on Thursday. Imam-ul-Haq also appeared before the agency in connection with the ongoing investigation.
Both cricketers may be required to unlock their mobile phones as part of the probe into alleged dressing-room leaks during Pakistan’s series against England. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had handed over the mobile phones of both players to the NCCIA. Earlier, reports emerged that the PCB was investigating media reports concerning the discipline and conduct of members of the national cricket team.
The PCB has refrained from commenting on the matter. Board sources said the inquiry was still ongoing and therefore no official comment would be issued at this stage. Meanwhile, PCB sources said unverified and baseless reports were being circulated in the media regarding the cricketers and officials.
