Imran Khan actions reflect “anti-Pakistan identity”: Khawaja Asif

Imran Khan's action depict him as anti-state

SIALKOT: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said PTI founder Imran Khan used inappropriate language even during Pakistan’s war with India, and that his actions reflect an “anti-Pakistan identity.”

Speaking to the media, Khawaja Asif said the DG ISPR had used very careful language, but as a politician he had the freedom to respond strongly. He warned that if such behaviour continues, the response would be equally tough.

He said Imran Khan’s sister is a non-political person, yet she spoke to Indian media in a way “no Pakistani could imagine.” He questioned whether she felt any connection to the soil of Pakistan.

The minister said that during the war with India, Pakistan’s friends and allies stood with the country, but one political party did not.

He added that Imran Khan comments on everything, so why did he stay silent then? Even during the conflict, he continued to target the military leadership, Asif said.

He remarked that those whose language spares no martyr cannot claim to speak for Pakistan, adding that such behaviour marks them as “anti-Pakistan.”

Khawaja Asif said politics and protest are every citizen’s right, but Pakistan’s dignity and national interest must not be undermined.

He added that his own party had criticised the military in the past, but never supported militants.

“Raise your voice for our soldiers and martyrs,” he said, “not for terrorists. Don’t sympathise with them, don’t praise them, and don’t pay them extortion.”
