The Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) for admissions to medical and dental colleges will be held across Pakistan, including Karachi, on September 20. In Sindh, the test will be administered by Sukkur IBA University.
According to Sukkur IBA University Vice Chancellor Professor Asif Ahmed Sheikh, more than 34,000 students will appear in the test. Examination centres have been established in five cities across Sindh, including Karachi, while a total of nine examination centres have been set up in eight cities across the country. One of the examination centres has also been established in Islamabad.
He said the MDCAT will have a duration of three hours and advised candidates to reach their respective examination centres before the scheduled time. Candidates will not be allowed to bring mobile phones or any other digital devices into the examination centres.
The Sukkur IBA University vice chancellor also made it clear that the examination paper would not be allowed to leak. He said he had made the same commitment in the past and was reiterating his determination to ensure the test was conducted securely.
MDCAT 2026 is scheduled to take place on 20th Sept, 2026 throughout Punjab. Examination centres are set up in 15 major cities to cater to candidates from various parts of the province.
The cities where MDCAT examination centres have been set up include Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Gujrat and Dera Ghazi Khan.
Other examination centres have been set up in Sahiwal, Layyah, Bahawalnagar, Mianwali and Rahim Yar Khan.
The authorities are keen on providing a level playing field by taking adequate security measures and surveillance for the students appearing for the examination, which is considered to be very competitive, with thousands of students going for the test.
Central camera and live monitoring are likely to ensure more effective monitoring of examination centres and prompt action in the event of any unpleasant event or examination rules violation.
The special monitoring arrangements are part of the wider plans to ensure the smooth and transparent running of MDCAT 2026 in Punjab.
