A blast has been reported near the old Police Lines area in Kohat, according to initial information shared by Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Rescue 1122 teams were dispatched to the site immediately after receiving information about the incident and launched relief and rescue operations.
According to Rescue 1122, 15 martyred 48 people were injured in the incident. Ambulances are providing initial medical assistance to the injured before transporting them to nearby hospitals for further treatment.
Rescue teams are currently engaged in relief activities at the site, while emergency personnel are continuing their response.
Officials said further details about the nature and cause of the blast, as well as the exact number of casualties, will be released once more information becomes available.
Claims regarding the involvement of Afghan nationals are also being made as part of preliminary intelligence assessments.
Meanwhile, local residents and relatives of those affected have gathered in the area and reportedly raised slogans demanding answers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and the provincial government over the security situation.
