The government has announced further relief for the public under its petrol relief scheme, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directing the inclusion of 20-year-old motorcycles, rickshaws and Qingqi rickshaws in the programme.
Under the revised scheme, owners of motorcycles, rickshaws and Qingqi rickshaws that are up to 20 years old will also be eligible to benefit from the petrol relief.
The prime minister has issued special directives to the relevant authorities to facilitate the inclusion of more people in the scheme.
According to the revised eligibility criteria, motorcycles, rickshaws and Qingqi rickshaws registered on or after January 1, 2006, will qualify for the petrol relief programme.
Eligible individuals can register for the scheme by following the prescribed procedure.

Earlier, PM Shehbaz Sharif has launched a special relief package after taking immediate notice of the additional financial burden on the public caused by rising global oil prices amid recent tensions in the Middle East. Under the scheme, the government will provide a subsidy of Rs100 per litre on petrol to owners of motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqi rickshaws and small vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc.

In a message on X, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the government was fully aware of the difficulties the public faced due to rising fuel prices.
He assured citizens they would not be left alone during this difficult period and said the special initiative aimed to reduce the impact of higher fuel costs on low-income and small-vehicle users.
