Shadab Khan reveals why he is not interested in T20 captaincy

National team all-rounder Shadab Khan says he is not mentally ready to take up the T20 captaincy.
According to media reports, Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan has currently ruled out the possibility of taking charge of the national T20 captaincy, saying that he is not mentally prepared for this responsibility.
He said that he supports the current captain, Salman Ali Agha, who is performing well as captain and should be given more time to prove himself.
Shadab Khan said that changing the captain frequently will not improve the situation and that continuity is very important. He added that no one from the cricket board has contacted him yet regarding the T20 captaincy.
It is worth mentioning that earlier this year, reports emerged that Salman Ali Agha could be removed as T20 captain and Shadab could be appointed captain after the team’s disappointing performance in the 2026 T20 World Cup held in India and Sri Lanka.
However, Shadab has now backed Salman Ali Agha and stressed the importance of continuity in Pakistan’s T20 leadership.
It may be recalled that the all-rounder first led the team during Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand in 2020 when captain Babar Azam was ruled out of the team due to injury. Pakistan lost the three-match series 1-2. In addition, Shadab has also captained Islamabad United in the PSL.
