The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has announced bonus awards for all of its working employees.
The officials of LESCO have approved bonuses for its officers and employees despite ongoing government efforts to reduce public-sector spending.
According to available details, LESCO’s Board of Directors has approved the payment of bonuses worth millions of rupees to eligible officers and staff.
The company has since begun the process of disbursing the bonuses to employees, according to officials familiar with the matter.
The decision comes as the federal government continues to call on public-sector institutions and departments to control expenditure and implement austerity measures.
LESCO, however, proceeded with the bonus payments following approval from its Board of Directors.
Further details about the total amount allocated for the bonuses and the number of employees eligible to receive them were not immediately available.
LESCO Chief Executive Officer Engineer Muhammad Ramzan Butt conducted a meeting earlier, which was focused on improving consumer services, with officials directed to ensure the timely provision of better facilities, promptly resolve public complaints, and further improve various customer service areas.
According to a LESCO spokesperson, the meeting reviewed ongoing operations against electricity theft, the status of revenue recovery, and the action plan for achieving the targets set for the 2026–27 financial year.
The officers were directed to ensure the prompt implementation of an effective action plan to improve revenue recovery, take strict action against defaulters, and eliminate electricity theft.
The meeting also emphasised the need to provide consumers with timely and improved services, promptly resolve complaints, and introduce further improvements in various customer service areas.
