The Punjab government has introduced a new system to collect cleaning fees in cities across the province. The Excise and Taxation Department will collect these fees with property tax.
The Suthra Punjab Authority and the Excise Department have signed an agreement for the new system. The heads of both departments signed the agreement.
The Excise Department will collect the fees during the 2026-27 fiscal year. It will also conduct house-to-house surveys and print cleaning fee bills for properties Survey houses across cities, prepare cleaning fee bills, and collect cleaning fees from property owners.
The Punjab Cabinet Committee approved the system in August.
What will be the charges for residential properties?
The fee will depend on the size of the house.
- Up to 5 marla: Rs300
- 5 to 10 marla: Rs500
- 10 to 20 marla: Rs1,000
- 20 to 40 marla: Rs2,000
- More than 40 marla: Rs5,000
Commercial properties to pay cleaning fees
Commercial properties will also pay cleaning fees. The amount will depend on the size of the property.
- Small commercial units: Rs500
- Medium commercial units: Rs1,000
- Large commercial units: Rs3,000
The Excise and Taxation Department will keep 1 per cent of the collected amount as a service fee.
