Several educational institutions in Taxila, Wah, Attock and Rawalpindi have announced the shift to online classes from September 24 until further notice.
The institutions include HITEC, COMSATS campuses in Wah, Attock and Islamabad, and PMAS-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi. No similar announcement has been made by other educational institutions in the twin cities so far. Students and parents have been advised to contact their respective institutions for further information.
COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) has announced that classes at its Islamabad Campus will be conducted online from September 24, 2026, until further notice amid heightened security arrangements in the region. The decision comes as authorities step up security measures across Attock, Taxila, Rawalpindi and Islamabad ahead of a planned PTI march towards the federal capital.
Security has particularly been tightened in Attock, a key route connecting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Punjab and Islamabad. Authorities have placed containers at major crossings and strengthened security along the GT Road, motorway, Chach Interchange, Attock Bridge, Haroon Bridge and Ghazi Barotha Bridge.
Reports indicate that around 30,000 security personnel are being deployed in Attock, while some educational institutions in Hazro have also been temporarily closed as part of the security arrangements.
The Punjab government has also requested the deployment of Rangers in Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Mianwali to assist with security measures. Meanwhile, the Islamabad administration has taken control of 24 public educational institutions to accommodate security personnel during the preparations.
According to a notification issued by CUI on September 23, online classes at the Islamabad Campus will begin on September 24 and continue until further notice. The university said the online classes will be conducted according to the notified semester schedule and timetable. All concerned have been directed to make the necessary arrangements to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted conduct of online classes.
