The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has issued an official and secure procedure for providing free SIM cards to eligible women to protect them from fraud and scams. The administration has strictly directed beneficiaries to obtain these SIMs only from government offices and not from any franchise or retailer.
BISP Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid has issued a special information message to facilitate and guide eligible women regarding the free SIM distribution process.
According to the spokesperson, eligible women have been instructed to visit their nearest BISP office to obtain their free SIM card.
To complete the process, women must have their original Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) and personal mobile phone with them.
Strict warning against fraud
In view of increasing cases of fraud and forgery, the administration has warned beneficiaries against dealing with any unauthorised person.
Women have been strictly advised not to receive or activate the SIM from any franchise, retailer or unauthorised representative.
The entire process of SIM issuance and activation will be carried out exclusively at designated BISP government offices to prevent any form of fraud or misuse.
Launched in 2008, the Benazir Income Support Programme is one of the Government of Pakistan’s major social welfare initiatives, providing financial assistance to millions of poor and vulnerable families.
The free SIM distribution initiative has been introduced to ensure greater financial transparency and facilitate the direct and secure transfer of funds to eligible beneficiaries.
The primary objective of the initiative is to empower women and protect them from exploitation by middlemen and fraudsters.
