Deadlock persists as Goods Transporters continue strike

The All Pakistan Goods Transporters Association has announced a wheel-jam strike from October 10 if their demands are not accepted.

A meeting of the All Pakistan Goods Transporters Association was held under the chairmanship of President Nabeel Mahmood Tariq. Senior Vice President Haji Irfan Sultan, Vice President Mumtaz Ali Khan, Mirza Arshad Iqbal and other office-bearers attended the meeting.

The participants called for relief for transporters under their charter of demands. They also demanded the immediate release of containers seized during protests and sit-ins, along with compensation of Rs20,000 and Rs35,000.

The meeting called for an end to the stopping and fining of vehicles over sales tax invoices and demanded a reduction in diesel prices.

The transporters also called on the federal and provincial governments to fulfil the commitments made during their previous strike.

The goods transporters warned that if relief was not provided, they would completely suspend their operations from October 10.

Petrol prices hiked, diesel prices reduced

The Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Thursday changed the petrol and diesel prices, with the new rates taking effect from Friday, October 2 (today).

What are the petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan today?

The price of petrol was increased by Rs3.26, and the price of diesel was decreased by Rs1.1. A notification has been issued in this regard as well.

The price of petrol has been set at Rs390.66 per litre, and the price of diesel has been set at Rs399.34 per litre. These prices have been changed for the next 24 hours.

Previous petrol prices

Previously, OGRA revised the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel. According to the notification, petrol became cheaper by Rs2.27 per litre, while high-speed diesel saw a reduction of Rs3.56 per litre. The new prices came into effect on September 29, 2026.

After the revision, petrol was priced at Rs389.30 per litre, while high-speed diesel cost Rs404.97 per litre.

Under the daily pricing system, the government had earlier increased the petrol price by Rs5.44 per litre on July 17. It also raised the price of high-speed diesel by Rs31.50 per litre for the next three days.

Following the increase, petrol reached Rs316.15 per litre, while diesel rose to Rs354.35 per litre.

On July 20, the government reduced the petrol price by Rs0.35 per litre to Rs315.80. However, the price of diesel increased by Rs5.71 per litre to Rs360.60.

Before that, petrol was available at Rs345.87 per litre, while high-speed diesel cost Rs378.50 per litre.
