An incident involving the alleged abduction of a newborn baby from Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar has come to light. According to police, a woman wearing a burqa took the newborn from the labour room at around 11:00 pm. According to the baby’s maternal grandmother, the mother was shifted to another room after her health deteriorated. When the family returned to the labour room, they found that the baby was missing.

The grandmother said that a search for the newborn was launched within the hospital following the disappearance, while police also initiated an investigation into the incident. Police said CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, showing the woman in a burqa taking the baby away from the hospital.

Lady Reading Hospital spokesperson Muhammad Asim said the CCTV footage had been handed over to police, who were conducting a search for the woman allegedly involved in taking the newborn. The spokesperson said the affected family had not yet lodged an FIR.

Muhammad Asim further explained that the woman had been visiting the labour room with the parents’ consent. He said the parents had informed hospital staff that she was accompanying them and should therefore be allowed access to the labour room. Police are investigating the incident and using the CCTV footage to identify and locate the woman who allegedly took the newborn.
