A major deadlock has emerged in the ongoing talks between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) over measures to eliminate terrorism and take action against Khawarij and terrorist elements.

According to sources, PTI is reportedly reluctant to adopt practical and actionable measures against Khawarij and terrorist elements, leading to delays and a lack of progress. PTI is also reportedly opposing special administrative powers and security measures proposed by the government for areas severely affected by terrorism, raising concerns that this could provide space to Khawarij and banned militant organisations.

The government has expressed serious concerns over the matter, while further details regarding the suspension of the talks are awaited.

Journalist Gharidah Farooqi has also revealed details of the reported deadlock in Govt-PTI talks, with the party’s reluctance to agree to counter-terrorism measures emerging as a major obstacle in the ongoing talks, according to government sources.

Sources further said that if there is no progress on the issue of terrorism, the talks will not move forward on any other matter either.

Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Sohail Afridi has announced the schedule for the first phase of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march, which will begin from Gandi Chawk in Lakki Marwat on October 4.
