Naran Kaghan closed off for tourists

PESHAWAR: Due to heavy snowfall, the valleys of Kaghan and Naran have been shut for tourists and visitors, according to a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Mansehra.

The road from Ghanool to Babusar Top has also been closed for all kinds of traffic.

The Deputy Commissioner of Mansehra said the decision was taken to ensure the safety of tourists as temperatures have dropped sharply and the cold has intensified hence Kaghan and Naran have now been completely closed for tourism.

The DC office has also issued a notification announcing the complete closure of the Kaghan highway up to Babusar Top

An advisory issued by the DC Mansehra has asked travellers to use the Karakoram Highway (KKH) for any movement towards the northern areas.

Police personnel posted at Thana Naran have been brought back due to the severe weather. All police check posts beyond Kaghan have been temporarily removed.

No security staff will be present at these posts or in the adjoining areas.

Sources in the DC office say that Kaghan and Naran valleys should now be considered closed until spring.

Temperatures are expected to drop further in the coming months, and for public safety, these valleys and other high-altitude areas will remain off-limits to visitors.
