Intermittent rainfall is likely in Faisalabad, Khushab, Bhakkar, Sargodha, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh. The authority has also warned of a risk of landslides in Murree, Galyat and other hilly areas. The PDMA has directed commissioners and deputy commissioners across the province to remain alert and ensure precautionary measures are in place.
PDMA Director General Saif Anjum Jappa said alerts had been issued to district administrations on the instructions of the Punjab chief minister. He added that the departments of health, irrigation, communication and works, local government, and livestock had also been placed on alert.
The PDMA has advised citizens to take precautionary measures during the expected inclement weather. Residents have been urged to avoid staying in dilapidated buildings and mud houses, seek shelter in safe places during windstorms, and avoid unnecessary travel.
Citizens have also been advised to take shelter during thunderstorms, avoid open areas during lightning, and keep children away from accumulated water in low-lying areas, power lines and utility poles.
