The government of Punjab has made a statement regarding the news of a holiday in schools, colleges, and universities in Punjab.
The Punjab Higher Education Department (HED) has made it very clear that all kinds of posts on social media regarding an official holiday in all colleges and universities on Monday, October 12, are fake and bogus.

While alarming students, parents, and the concerned educational bodies, HED said to be wary of the misleading and fake notifications circulating on social media platforms.
All colleges and universities will remain open completely today, October 12, 2026.
On the other hand, there has also been no confirmation from the schools in the province regarding any kind of official holiday today.
Meanwhile, a fabricated notification, dated October 11, went viral on social media, saying that HED has announced a holiday on Monday, October 12.
The Higher Education Department (HED) has dismissed the notification as fake, urging the public to verify such announcements through official channels before sharing them.
The department has previously cautioned against fake notifications and established a dedicated cell to verify information and prevent confusion caused by misleading announcements.
It has also provided a helpline, 042-99210039-42, for the public to confirm the authenticity of notifications and circulars.
The HED urged people to rely on official communications and refrain from sharing unverified information concerning educational institutions.
