Adiala Jail: Police use water cannon on Protesters

Punjab Police clears the protest outside Adiala Jail

RAWALPINDI: The protesters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were water-cannoned by the Punjab Police.

This was done at the Adiala Jail when they declined to stop their protest. In the early part of the day, the sisters of the founder of PTI, Imran Khan, organised a protest outside the jail.

They had gone to protest to see Imran Khan. The authorities, however, denied their access to the facility.

Later on, the police affirmed that the formal time of the meeting had already passed when the PTI workers arrived. Thus, the officials did not permit the PTI leaders to enter into jail. The situation was worsened by this rejection.

Sit-In and Allegations

The sit-down occurred in front of Adiala Jail, after a couple of weeks of visit prohibition of the PTI leader. The sisters of Imran Khan were camping outside the jail, and they demanded a meeting with him.

Moreover, on social media, it was possible to see the development of the situation that became rather tense. PTI claimed that the police officers had beaten and attacked the non-violent demonstrators.

One of the sisters stated that the police took her by the hair and threw her ruthlessly to the floor. She has since been requiring an independent investigation into the suspected police brutality.

The authorities of jails categorically deny all rumors about the health of the PTI founder. They state that he is stable and gets all the medical care.

Nevertheless, the PTI is still concerned about his well-being. They insist on knowing his status and access by family and lawyers.

This event demonstrates the political tension that exists in relation to the arrest of Imran Khan.
