Private schools in Quetta have been banned from collecting fees for the winter holidays following a Balochistan High Court ruling.
Deputy Commissioner West Quetta Munir Ahmed Durrani has issued a notification directing all private schools to follow the court’s orders.
The authorities have warned that schools violating the order could face strict action. Their registration may be cancelled, and their buildings may be sealed.
How can parents report schools?
Parents have been asked to report any private school that charges fees for the winter vacation period.
They can contact the deputy commissioner’s office or the relevant education department to file a complaint.
The deputy commissioner said the authorities would take immediate action against schools found violating the order.
When do winter vacations begin in Balochistan?
The Balochistan Education Department divides schools into two zones based on weather conditions. These are cold and warm areas.
Schools in cold areas usually close for winter vacations in mid-December. The holidays last around two and a half months due to the severe cold.
Schools in warm areas have a shorter winter break. Their holidays usually last around 10 days.
Where will schools remain closed?
All educational institutions in Nowshera and Mardan will remain closed tomorrow, officials have announced.
According to the deputy commissioner of Nowshera, all schools and other educational institutions in the district will remain shut. Public and private educational institutions in Mardan will also be closed.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Ali and Shah Saud have taken charge as the new commissioner and deputy commissioner of Mardan, respectively.
In another development, the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Peshawar has postponed the second annual matriculation exams.
The exams were due to start on October 12. However, the board administration said the new date would be announced soon.
Officials have also said that all roads in the city are expected to reopen tonight. The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service has been suspended for the past two days but is expected to resume tomorrow.
